Olaf Thomsen joined Oceanic Tradewinds with a decade of experience in artist management, music publishing, artist development, music licensing, pitching songs, songwriting, and business development.
Olaf started in music in the Minneapolis scene as an A&R scout and songwriter for local hip-hop/R&B and rock productions. After moving to Los Angeles, he began pitching songs in sync. In the following years, he worked for various creative and licensing departments at Universal Music Publishing, Def Jam, and Concord. Olaf negotiated songwriter shares of major hit songs (#1 hit “Work” by Rihanna & Drake) and placed tracks for major artists (#2 hit “Trophies” by Drake). He negotiated the first approved cover of Prince’s “Purple Rain” and represents a handful of artists including Boy Meets Girl (#1 hit “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” by Whitney Houston), Laura Marano (star and featured songwriter of the 2022 #1 Netflix movie The Royal Treatment), and handles publishing & sync services for KYLE (#1 hit “iSpy”, “Playinwitme”) and FNZ (#1 hit “Wait For U” by Future & Drake) among others.
Olaf currently handles Artist Development & Licensing for Oceanic Tradewinds including national touring K-Hall artist (k-pop + dancehall) Megan Soo and indie electronic darling Shöckface.
